AUTHENTIC NORTH INDIAN YOGA FROM RISHIKESH; AS TAUGHT BY YOGRISHI VISHVKETU. FOCUSING ON CORRECT BREATHING, ALIGNMENT, ENERGY FLOW AND JOY. EACH CLASS WILL INCORPORATE DIFFERENT THEMES AND ASANA SEQUENCES (POSTURES); AS WELL AS MANTRA, KRIYA, MUDRA, AND PRANAYAMA. SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS AND THOSE WANTING TO DEEPEN THEIR YOGA PRACTICE.

Minker has been a practitioner of yoga for sixteen years and a meditation student for over twenty years. He has trained in all the main styles of yoga including starting off his journey at a London Gym and practicing Ashtanga Yoga, before learning other styles, including Hatha, Iyengar and Sivananda; and ultimately his journey has taken him to India.

Having worked in the Lake District for over eight years; including as a Deputy Shop Manager at Oxfam Keswick, and as a General Assistant at Glenthorne Quaker Guest House – Minker knows all too well about the daily aches and pains that are collected and then stored up in the physical body – and so each class is designed specifically to go deeper-and-deeper into releasing the tension and pain from the physical body, the mental body, the emotional body, using breathe to align the pranic-breathe body; in order to reach union with the bliss-body; which is why the word yoga, to yoke, means union.

In scientific terms this is called a bio-feedback mechanism; as we calm the body, we calm the mind and so we create a positive circle of flowing energy and yoga is the practice of moving into stillness; until the minds-ripples become as calm as a Lake.

Krishnamacharya is the root teacher of India’s foremost teachers of Yoga to the West; including B.K.S Iyengar and Sri Pattabhi Jois, the creator of Ashtanga Yoga.
