Coniston Parish Council wishes to appoint a Parish Lengthsman to carry out various work in and around the parish, starting as soon as possible.
The job: This role will suit someone with a wide range of skills in general maintenance including, but not restricted to:
Grass cutting and weeding
Litter picking & general tidying
Inspection, cleaning and minor maintenance of street furniture and bus shelters
Clearing drainage
Addressing minor highways issues, but reporting more serious issues to Cumbria Highways or South Lakeland District Council
Basic Paperwork
Other ad-hoc duties as listed in the full job description
This role is outdoors and, although the need will be higher between April and November, there will be some need all year round. The ideal candidate would be someone who takes pride in the local community and who wants to make a real difference.
Employment: We are looking to offer a contract on a self-employed basis. The hours will vary across the year, but average approximately 20 hours a month in the summer. Salary will be paid monthly, after submission of a monthly invoice and timesheet. As a self-employed contractor, you must arrange your own necessary transport, telephone, PPE, equipment, insurance and training.
