Westmorland and Furness is expected to be most severely affected from 12pm tomorrow (27 September) until 7am on Thursday (28 September).

Wind gusts are expected to reach 60mph and 65-75mph over hills and around coasts.

Impacts could include tress brought down, damage to overhead rail wires and the possibility of power outages resulting from damage to transmission infrastructure.

In addition there is a chance of structural damage to any unsecured structures, a risk of airborne debris from the strongest gusts and road, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible.

Staff are therefore advised that before undertaking any journeys tomorrow to please check the weather and routes – please only travel if it is necessary and safe to do so. If you need any help or assistance and are unable to work, please contact your line manager.

Finally, please be safe, and make the right decision before travelling
